I've struggled to decide on what a personal blog could be about for a long time. Now, here it is. I want to post weekly updates on my journey as a writer. Hopefully, someone besides me will find it interesting! :)<br /><br />This week...I am close to the end of my first serious edit of my manuscript. It involved:<br /><br />1. Create a new hook and chuck the first 24 pages or so of the book (all backstory in the end)<br />2. Removing passive verbs (apparently the mark of a novice writer - aha!)<br />3. Cutting approximately 1/4 of the words out.<br /><br />I've yet to go back through and attempt to cut another 10%. I plan to do that next as I re-write the additional pages that are needed after this painful pruning process. Actually, it was both painful and exhilarating.<br /><br />So, I want to post a weekly update on my progress...on Fridays. So, please come again!
