In The Middle

So, we're going to jump in at the middle. I've struggled to decide on what a personal blog could be about for a long time. Now, here it is. I want to post weekly updates on my journey as a writer. Hopefully, someone besides me will find it interesting! :)

This week...I am close to the end of my first serious edit of my manuscript. It involved:

1. Create a new hook and chuck the first 24 pages or so of the book (all backstory in the end)
2. Removing passive verbs (apparently the mark of a novice writer - aha!)
3. Cutting approximately 1/4 of the words out.

I've yet to go back through and attempt to cut another 10%. I plan to do that next as I re-write the additional pages that are needed after this painful pruning process. Actually, it was both painful and exhilarating.
